The biggest shopping day of the year arrives at the beginning of the holiday season, which just happens to be one of the biggest adventure travel seasons as well. If you are lucky enough to be going on an adventure during December or January, it almost seems like Black Friday and Cyber Monday were created just for you. But even if you decide to buy new gear on one of the 363 other days of the year, there are some great websites that offer discounts on adventure gear 7 days a week.
The following is a short list to get you started, but please let us know if there are any that you recommend not mentioned below.
Steep and Cheap offers discounts on a rotating selection of gear from premium outdoor brands for a limited-time only. They also feature a “Current Steal” which is a single item with a particularly large discount, often over 50 percent off, that includes a countdown clock of 20 minutes.
If you want a one-stop shop, CleanSnipe lists deals from many of the other discount websites, including Steep and Cheap. And they update their list throughout the day to make sure they don’t miss any deals.
Both REI and MEC are great places to go if you are looking for just about any kind of outdoor gear and apparel. Even better is that they offer discounts through their websites, with REI also having an entire outlet section.
One of the largest discount sites of outdoor gear, and also one of the first, Sierra Trading Post sells closeouts, overstocks and seconds (items with minor cosmetic irregularities that don’t affect performance). With sales up to 70 percent off and excellent customer service, don’t overlook this classic.
